New Ulm voted Honorary State Capital for a Day!
After two weeks of voting and more than 10,000 votes, the Minnesota Sesquicentennial Commission announced that New Ulm will serve as an Honorary Capital for the Sesquicentennial year! A total of 5 cities were chosen as honorary capitals for a day- New Ulm, Bemidji, Thief River Falls, Detroit Lakes, and Winona- with each one representing one of Minnesota's 5 geographical regions. Thursday, May 15th, will mark the day when New Ulm represents the Prairie Grassland region of Minnesota as it's honorary capital. Our first order of business as the capital of Minnesota- naming Schell's Beer the official beer of Minnesota! The city of New Ulm has a full days worth of events planned, and all are welcome to attend. You can join Schell's at the B&L Bar in downtown New Ulm from 4:30-7:00 as we celebrate our own upcoming sesquicentennial with the second release in our Anniversary Draft Series.
